Major provision of this bill...

When an airline advertises a price for an airfare, it currently must state the full amount that you would pay - including all government taxes and fees.

This bill would allow the airline to advertise the just the base price of the ticket, as long as the fees and total cost were disclosed "clearly and separately".

What happened with this bill?

The Transparent Airfares Act passed the House of Representatives, but was not considered by the Senate. It died when the 113th Congress ended in Jan. 2015.
